FAQ

Choosing the right skincare is important. Here’s everything you might want to know about our balms, ingredients and how we care for your skin.

What is tallow and why do you use it?
Tallow is a nutrient-rich fat rendered from Australian grass-fed cows, naturally packed with vitamins A, D, E, and K. Its structure closely mimics the oils found in human skin, making it incredibly nourishing, easily absorbed, and deeply healing. Tallow has been used for centuries in traditional skincare and we believe it's still one of nature’s best-kept secrets.

Is your tallow ethically sourced?
Yes. We only use tallow from Australian grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle, sourced through ethical and sustainable farming practices. We’re committed to choosing ingredients that are both highly effective and responsibly harvested.

Is Bare Balm safe for sensitive skin?
Absolutely. Every Bare Balm product is carefully formulated for sensitive, reactive, and compromised skin. We use only pure, natural ingredients - free from toxins, fillers, and irritants to nourish, soothe, and protect even the most delicate skin.

Can I use Bare Balm on my baby or children?
Yes. Bare Repair is especially gentle and safe for babies and young children. It’s ideal for calming dry patches, soothing nappy rash, and protecting sensitive skin. (As always, we recommend patch testing first.)

What makes Bare Balm different from other skincare brands?
At Bare Balm, we keep skincare simple. Our products are crafted with minimal, ancestral ingredients like grass-fed tallow, organic beeswax, and cold-pressed oils — with no synthetic fillers or hidden chemicals. Every balm is handmade in small batches on the Gold Coast, Australia, with a focus on purity, healing, and skin health.

Which balm is right for me?
Golden Glow: Lightweight healing balm designed for daily facial use, hydration, and scar support.
Butter Me Up: Rich whipped body butter for full-body hydration and sensitive skin care.
Bare Repair: Unscented, ultra-gentle balm ideal for eczema, psoriasis, nappy rash, dry patches + barrier repair.

Is Bare Balm good for eczema, psoriasis, and other skin conditions?
Yes. Bare Repair is formulated specifically to help soothe inflammation, support the skin's natural healing process, and strengthen the skin barrier - making it ideal for conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.

Is it safe to use Bare Balm during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Yes, however, we recommend choosing Bare Repair during pregnancy if you prefer an unscented option. As always, we suggest patch testing first to ensure complete comfort during these sensitive stages.

How long does one jar of Bare Balm last?
Because our products are rich and concentrated, a little goes a long way. On average, a 50ml jar will last between 2–3 months with regular daily use.

Can I use Bare Balm on both my face and body?
Yes! All of our balms are multi-purpose. Golden glow is lightweight enough for facial use, Butter me up is perfect for full-body hydration, and Bare Repair is safe and soothing for anywhere you need extra care.

Is Bare Balm cruelty-free?
Yes. Bare Balm is 100% cruelty-free, never tested on animals, only lovingly tested on real skin.

Is your packaging eco-friendly?
Yes. We use glass jars that are fully reusable and recyclable, helping to minimise waste and support sustainable living. Our labels are also made with eco friendly Linen.

Where is Bare Balm made?
Every jar of Bare Balm is handmade with care in small batches on the Gold Coast, Australia.

How should I store my balm?
Store your balm in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Because we use pure natural ingredients, some texture changes with temperature are normal, but rest assured, it doesn’t affect the quality or effectiveness of your product.
